GenRent is pleased to announce that it has won a tender for building and owning a new 70MW HFO power plant in Iquitos, Peru. The project, having a total value of US$100 million, is due to commence operation within 30 months from the signing of the contract. The concession was granted in the form of a BOT project, stating that GenRent will design, finance, construct, operate and provide maintenance of the new thermo-electric plant, for a period of 20 years. In addition to the construction of the power plant, the scope of work includes the construction of a 60kV transmission line to the power plant.
GenRent was selected by Proinversion, the Agency for Promotion of Private Investment commissioned by the Peruvian Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM). As a dominant global player in the field of energy, GenRent offers its clients reliable power solutions combined with record-breaking implementation periods and competitive pricing. GenRent’s unique position as a provider of both temporary and permanent power plants enables it to provide its clients with optimal power solutions, tailor fit to their exact needs.
"GenRent's track record of construction and operation of reliable power plants in the Brazilian Amazon provides it with the expertise required to overcome unique site challenges such as extremely high humidity and the fact that Iquitos cannot be reached by road" said Avner Kurz, Chairman of GenRent.
"GenRent’s Power Plant will significantly improve the electricity capacity and stability for the 160,000 inhabitants of the Capital of the Peruvian Amazon, currently not connected to the national grid, and have a significant contribution to the economic development of the region" said Dr. Hana-Muriel Setteboun, VP Business Development & Finance of GenRent.
